Hello everyone! My name is Daisuke Matsubara, a leader of Team Zunchaka! I was born and raised in Shibuya and grew up with playing the piano all my life from the age of seven. I occasionally perform a jam session with my friends from the childhood in a park. Particularly in this area, many people stopped and listened to us while we were playing the music filled with excitement.They were a mother with a baby, a foreign student riding on a skateboard, an elderly couple in the middle of taking a walk. I couldn’t be happier, being deeply absorbed in the music with such people I met for the first time.

For a person like me, who loves Shibuya and music, “Shibuya Zunchaka!” is truly a dream day.

“Shibuya Zunchaka!” is “A Day of Music Liberation Area”. The festival will propose every style in enjoying music by fully leveraging the diversity of Shibuya. In the future, we will further elevate this initiative to attrac larger audience and to cover even wider Shibuya area, aiming to hold a music festival where “Everyone will be engaged”.

You may not have any experience in playing an instrument or you may sing a song for the first time in a while, but please don’t worry! Anyone can enjoy music on the day. There will be no boundary across a professional and an amateur. Also, it is not a one-way communication where one person will play and the other person will only listen. You can play and also listen by switching the role one to the other to mingle with people through music interactively.

Following the pre-event in last year, we will hold the 1st “ Shibuya Zunchaka!” this year. In addition to the main venue “Miyashita Park”, a satellite stage will be built in a couple of places in Shibuya from where the music will be “unleashed”.

You could listen to the performance of an artist or play an instrument by yourself at the free session area. You can even create an instrument at the workshop! It is all up to you! Lastly, at the very end of the event, we will all play together!

No matter who you are, “Shibuya Zunchaka!” will give you an opportunity to become a “star” of the day. Don’t miss out. Let’s “Zunchaka”.
